Why need an Inqusitor Money?

12

My next Feedback is about the Ingame-Money. I dont understand why the Inquisitor needs Money? They need a lot of Stuff, but Money? Thats not real lore-friendly.

I can understand, the the Ingameshop for Items needs a Ressource to be functional. But money is not the solution. I have no plan, what the Dev. can do, but they have to chance the Ressource.

For Excample (but i dont no where i read it): An Powerarmor of the Astartes cost more the 10 earth-workers earn in life! Its the Same problem other ARPG's have (including Diablo 3).

I hope the Dev. is reading this and reconsider this ;)

My first Point was: Why do we need Money? But second, when we need money, the Prices are totally unreal. An Powerarmor should not coats the same as a Boltpistol.

I know its a Point of Balancing, but Eisenhorn didnt fight in the Front most time and dont ne thinks like an Powerarmor.

It a game guys, try to remember that. Gotta have some form of currency...who really cares what its called.

As for lore. Totally disagree that Inquisitors don't use or have no need for money. If you have read the Eisenhorn novels, you would know he uses money for all sorts of stuff...from paying his bar tab, all the way up to paying a ship captain for a ride to another system.

Sorry, but you have any idea what an "Inquisitor" is? To be an Inquisitor means that you are a representative of the most powerful organisation existing in the imperium of mankind: the holy inquisition of terra or also known as the holy inquisition of the emperor.

Beeing a member of such an organisation puts you above the law, your word is enough to issue an exterminatus, the death of a whole world. Arkos is right for questioning money, because the inquisition is in supply of the finest armory, weapons and tools mankind has at it´s disposal.

What would be a legal "currency" could be something like Supply Points... surely the Inquisition will not hand off their top notch equipment to a rookie inquisitor.

Well, every inquisitor started his/her career somewhere, not all coming from a rich background; since we're starting at lvl 1 it can be interpreted that we're a rookie inquisitor on first assignment, and thus not swimming in confiscated wealth.

You have Fate, you have Glory...not so much other ways for "payment". And not every Inquisitor get all what they need without paying themselfes.

I think the credits are a good solution, you can set the prices higher, but at the end you craft your items, so it doesnt matter.

I have no problem with this system. We are totaly no names, lucky to serve but nameless and worthless and down the ladder, we need something  from the good stuff...we pay. ^^

Actually I'm sure a lot of people have had the same thoughts about the currency system, and as you say, this is a place for constructive criticism.

Sorry if my responses came across as defensive, just trying to think through some Lore-based angles on why the Devs have gone the way they have.

I hope u all dont missunderstand me. Its a constructiv criticism ;) I think, this plattform is a good way for this. If the Dev. read this, good, if they think about this, better :)

I think it's way too early to look at how the credit system is balanced. We shouldn't assume that 5 hours of game-play will yield the same kind of value in terms of credits when the game goes live. You could also look at it as modifications to your existing power armor if the lore thing really does bother you. There is after all a tech priest of the Mechanicum on board your vessel and venerated sets of power armor were known to be modified and maintained over millenia. Also there is nothing to say that the power armor our Inquisitors are able to barter for are actually venerated pieces of arcana - the Orks for example produce powered weapons just as the Imperium do but of a different quality level. Could be that local forgeworlds have been knocking out power armor based on dodgy STCs which compared to the really old high quality stuff, are actually just 'passable', which would explain the price.

But Neocore Games ask, if the Game is Lore-friendly... WIth this low Dimension of money (we take about 1000-5000 Credits for an Armor) it is really lore-unfriendly.

I Read a lot of WH40K Books (including the whole Heresy-Tail). But an Powerarmor is the most valuable thing, except relicts, an Inquisitor and Space Marine have.

Maybe Money is a good thing to simplify something, but the Prices should be much higher. I have with my new Character maybe 5 hours gameplay and over 100000 Credits and dont now how to spend them. They seems useless.

ok, you have a valid point, its not useless though when you consider buying mission perks and crafting. you have to pay for these things. the prices may go up later when we close in on the final build.

This is a wild sector of Imperial space. Think of the credits your Inquisitor accrues as local currency which he needs to interact with the locals. Sure he could just invoke the authority of the Emperor and take whatever he/she wants, but if you view the credit system as a favor system where your character is prepared and able to barter and deal with the locals, it might make more sense than just earning a salary. Maybe that's why the credits are named after the sector of space the game is set in too?
This makes sense, In the lore Kryptman and other inquisitors, particularly of the ordo's xenos and hereticus were known to be quite wealthy, monetarily speaking. This allowed them to barter with the rogue traders and bribe local officials when needed to aquire items and intelligence vital to their work. much of their wealth was obtained as reward for their service, or seized from suspected heretics and xenos sympathizers.
