Priority Assignments Cutting Off Early?

The Priority Assignments seem to be much shorter for me than they are supposed to be?

It lets me make a choice and then I do a mission... and then it just ends with no follow up. I get a reward box and that's it.

I'm not sure it's supposed to work this way! Am I doing something wrong?
